Kommagene Biennial

“healing”
This time, the Commagene Biennial, as an international event of contemporary site-specific art, explored the theme of “healing”, referring to the cyclical nature of historical periods and cultures and the need for spiritual and economic rebirth following traumatic events in the recent past. The banks of the Firat, which is considered to be the nursery of civilization, were the home of Assyria. Persia, Commagene, Rome, Byzantium. The monuments of civilizations such as Assyrian, Persian, Commagene, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman have left traces on the region for thousands of years. The artists participating in the Biennial have also left their own traces, reflecting the historical dimension of the area, the cyclical changes in the natural environment, architecture, social, economic and ecological issues.
